Parents demand action against school management

Irked over the management committee of a private school following expulsion of 16 students without any prior notice, parents staged a protest outside the SDM’s office demanding strict action against them on Tuesday.

They have also formed a committee named SVAS to prevent the arbitrary attitude of the private schools. They also submitted a memorandum and asked SDM Mahesh Badole to take stern action against them as soon as possible. SDM Badole assured them to investigate the matter within three days.

Just few days after the beginning of new academic session, Gurukul school of the city have expelled 16 students and that too without any notice. Parents of the expelled students alleged that the school staff is harsh towards the students; they not only punish them but also threaten them.

Parents alleged that if a student is failed to pay fees on time then they give them punishments and whenever parents tried to intervene, they abused them. One of the parents, Sattu Agrawal said that if their child has committed any mistake, then management should call them but they don’t have any right to expel them without any notice. With all these allegations, they have made an appeal to the SDM to look into the matter and investigate it.

Moreover, the parents also raised many issues like hike in tuition fees, allotting designated retailers to purchase textbooks and school-uniforms etc that put more burden on their shoulders as they are expensive as compare to the other shops.

Prior to the protest, the parents have constituted a committee, with the consent of all, named SVAS i.e. Swami Vivekanand Abhivavak Sangh. The organization would keep an eye on the private schools and their activities. It’s an effort to prevent the monopoly of the schools.
