BHOPAL :  Dismissed IAS officer Tinu Joshi walked into the court of the special judge ADJ Dinesh Prasad Mishra on Thursday and gave herself up. The court is trying a case relating to possession of disproportionate assets against her.

After her surrender, she was sent on judicial remand till May 23. Her husband, Arvind Joshi, who was also dismissed from the IAS, in the same case is still absconding. Previously, she had surrendered on January 13, 2015 in the same court.

She was to present herself in the court after her three-month interim bail expired on May 2 but she did not turn up. The High Court rejected her plea for regular bail on May 12 following which she surrendered again.

She was given bail for surgery but she did not undergo any kind of surgery. She said that due to blood pressure, cardiac problems and poor health she could not go for surgery.

Advocate Pratulya Shandilya said, “Tinu Joshi surrendered and has been sent on judicial remand till May 23. She surrendered as High Court had instructed her to do so on May 12.”

Shandilya said, “As doctors did not find her fit enough, they did not perform the surgery. The High Court had asked us the reason behind approaching private hospitals for the surgery. We told the court that as government hospitals are not up to mark so we did not go for any government hospital.”

On March 1, 2014, the special police establishment of Madhya Pradesh Lokayukta had filed a challan against 17 including IAS couple Arvind and Tinu Joshi along with Joshi’s father H.M. Joshi, a former Madhya Pradesh police chief, his mother Nirmala Joshi two two NRI sisters–Abha Joshi-Ghani and Vibha Patel. Except these four—Tinu, Arvind, Abha and Vibha, all others are on bail.

SC seeks status of Arvind case: The Supreme Court has served notice to state government asking status of the case in connection with plea filed by Arvind Joshi for anticipatory bail. Hearing will be on July 2.
