Supplementary budgets irrelevant: CAG

BHOPAL : In a report submitted by Controller and Auditor General (CAG) on state’s finance, it has come to the fore that all supplementary budgets presented by the state government in 2014-15 were irrelevant and not useful. Out of Rs 1,48,505 crore of the total budget including supplementary budget, only Rs 1,13,052 crore could be spent. The government could not spend Rs 19504 crore of supplementary budget. The government had to bear a loss of Rs 34.37 crore due to 3134 cases of thefts and loss in various Departments, the report underlined.

The report stated that the government is spending less on health and education in comparison to the other states.

 The state suffered a loss of Rs 14344 crore were spent on 68 projects by Narmada Valley Development Department and Water Resources Department by these projects could not be completed. It has also been mentioned in the report that 35 departments did not give utilisation certificate for the works of Rs 27,000 crore.
