Bhopal: Roads of the Walled City were waterlogged as heavy rain lashed the city for the second consecutive day on Thursday. Incessant rain has caused severe flooding in low lying areas causing huge inconvenience to residents and commuters. People had a harrowing time clearing the rain water that entered into their houses. Hamidia Road and many other major city roads were waterlogged compelling motorists to wade through it.
Rains also hit public transport as the buss had to ply on waterlogged road. Nadra Bus Stand, Bharat Talkies, Bhopal Talkies, Central Talkies were badly affected due to waterlogging. Rainwater gushed inside the basement in commercial complex in MP Nagar, Central Market and others damaging the goods. The shopkeepers had to pump out the muddy water but even then they could not carry any business as they were busy accessing their damages.
Jyoti Talkies complex’s shop owners were seeing draining out the rain water that that entered into their establishments. Residents of Punjabi Bag, Saifia college road, DIG Bungalow had harrowing time as water logging was reported in their area following heavy showers. A tree came down crashing Raj Bhavan. BMC team was immediately rushed to clear the tree as half of its portion remained suspended on the Raj Bhavan’s wall.
The downpour, however, could not dampen the spirit of the devotees, as braving the rains they participated in Navratri festivities with full zeal. As idols of Goddess Durga were taken for installation on first day of Navratri, the devotees drenched in rains, had brought huge plastic covers to cover the idol.
