BHOPAL : Central Region Electricity Distribution Company has suggested effective measures to curtail expenses of electricity bill in summer season. It has prescribed measures to people using air-conditioners (ACs), coolers, fans and refrigerators, which would help them in reducing their electricity bills.
For people using ACs, it is suggested that the temperature of AC should be set between 21 degrees and 25 degrees as setting it below the said range put extra load on AC’s compressor. A fan should also be used with AC in a room. The air-filter of AC should be cleaned every fortnight as deposition of dust puts obstacle in its cooling ability. The doors and windows should be closed while AC is on.
For those who use cooler, they should ensure that there is cross ventilation in the room. If pads have worn out, get them replaced and also get fan and pump well lubricated. The condenser of cooler fan and its regulator should be checked.
People using refrigerators can save electricity by ensuring its testing before beginning of summer season. The door of refrigerator should not be opened frequently as it puts extra load on compressor which finally affects electricity bill. Do not put hot food and milk inside refrigerator.
Besides, the Company has also issued necessary tips. It has suggested that people should use electricity wires and fittings bearing ISI mark only in their houses.
Old and worn out wiring leads to extra consumption of electricity and creates the risk of fire. The maintenance of electrical gadgets should be done by licensed contractors and electricians. CFL lights should be used at all places in the house.
