Directs cops to take strict action against anti-social elements

BHOPAL: The police department has launched a special one-month campaign to prevent crimes against women and ensure women safety. The campaign would conclude on November 30.

Director general of police (DGP) Rishi Shukla has issued instructions for the said campaign, aiming at strictly dealing with the incidents like eve-teasing and taking instant action.

Shukla in his instructions to all superintendents of police (SPs) and superintendents of railway police, stated that places where women feel insecure should be identified and such places, in collaboration with administration, should be made safe.

He instructed to take strict action against anti-social elements, standing around schools/colleges, women hostels and coaching institutes.

Intensive patrolling in the areas witnessing huge gathering during evening, by teams including a women employee too, should be done. Regular checking of buses and public transport should be done, with the support of traffic police. Stern action against criminals in cases of eve-teasing should be taken. Police patrolling should be done regularly in colonies and narrow bylanes. Instant action should be taken on getting information on Dial 100. Railway police should form special teams to stop the incidents of eve-teasing on platforms. The SPs have been instructed to send a report of the action taken every week to crimes against women branch, said the DGP.
