BHOPAL: The MP Congress Committee, on Wednesday, alleged that the Modi government, from the new fiscal year, had withdrawn the decision to give a minimum pension of Rs 1000 per month to all Employees’ Provident Fund account holders.

MPCC spokesman JP Dhanopia said the scheme to provide minimum pension of Rs 1000 to each EPF account holder was announced by the then UPA government.

The Modi government, after taking over the reins, launched it in September last year with great fanfare with its ministers attending inaugural programmes. Seven months after its launching, the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has issued instructions to its regional offices not to make payments under the scheme as it was only meant for financial year 2014-15, Dhanopia said.
