Bhopal: More than a dozen BJP and Congress candidates were unofficially were put under house arrest as a precautionary measure as violence was reported from different parts of the state on Wednesday. Polling stations were vandalised, Congress and BJP workers attacked and opened fire at each other kept pouring in from different parts of the state throughout the day keeping officials on tenterhooks. In Bhind’s Mehgaon constituency an unidentified man opened fire on one Pradeep Singh.
Unofficial house arrest… He was later admitted to hospital with bullet injury in face. In Guna’s Chanchoda constituency, Congress and BJP workers clashed accusing each other of fake voting. A few Congmen were injured in the skirmish. Ex-CM Digvijaya Singh’s brother Laxman Singh is pitted against BJP’s Mamta Meena on this seat. In Bhind’s Lahar constituency, a few unidentified people damaged EVM machines in Raipura village.
They also smashed vehicle of tehsildar. The BJP and the Congress workers clashed at polling booth number 109 of Ater constituency. Four people were injured in the incident. Both parties accused each other of fake polling. BJP candidates, including Rakesh Singh, Ram Lakhan Singh, Arvind Bhadoria and Rasal Singh along with Congress candidate MLA Dr Govind Singh, MLA Hemant Katare, Samajwadi Party candidate MLA Narendra Singh Kushwaha, BSP candidate Sanjiv Singh Kushwaha and many others were forced to stay put at a single place. In Rehli a fake voter was caught while an EVM was found in a hotel in Shujalpur.
