‘Happy Paw’ provides home to pet canines whose owners are away
BHOPAL: “My first meeting with a dog was when I was five and my father brought home a Pomeranian and I hated him because of the attention he got from everyone. My mother still reminds me how I used to torture the little pet. But he was always friendly with me and gradually I became used to his presence so much that we never stayed apart”, said Chandni Jajoria while talking about how she had her first pet.
Chandni, who lives in Arera colony, is a young entrepreneur. Her love for dogs is not limited to her pets, she has undertaken a venture of taking care of others dogs as well through ‘Happy Paw’.
“The idea of Happy Paw came when I had to leave my dogs with my aunt who had no idea about how to take care of them. I began this almost three years back. Initially, I was scared to handle others dogs so I began with small dogs who were easy to handle. I have constructed shelter for dogs in my lawn. The big dogs like great den, German shepherd, golden retriever and labrador require a lot of space, which is why I got the shelter made specially”, she said about Happy Paw.
Operating through a Facebook page and phone calls, Chandni has also hired two care takers for the dogs coming to her place. “I try to keep all the dogs separate initially so that I can judge their nature. Apart from few, all the dogs who have come to me befriend with my ones and that’s the most amazing part. To see all of them gel. You never know with pets, how they may behave. So I spend a good amount of time with the owner to know the maximum I can about the dog. This helps us in handling the dog better”, she said. She charges Rs 500 per day for big dogs and Rs 400 for small dogs who are easy to handle.
Chandni herself has five dogs, two Beagles, two Rottweiler and one Weimaraner. “Tyson, the little Rottweiler is the naughtiest one among all five and he is also my favorite because he never eats without me. Not just I love them, they love me and my family so much that now, we cannot imagine our lives without them”, says taking pride while talk about her dogs.
