Dhar : Local farmer Babulal Parihar, who has achieved tremendous success in Kesar farming, was felicitated by the chief minister Shivraj Sigh Chauhan in a program here.
Babulal Parihar has achieved fame for successful farming of Kesar here which is a crop largely grown in Kashmir valley. He has also made his mark in farming of Safed Musli in this region. Once a BPL (below poverty line) farmer, Babulal have made his fortunes by his grit and determination.
The chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan felicitated Babulal Parihar during a Kanyadan program. The chief minister also lauded the efforts of Babulal.
Anil Soni of Nabard, Vijay Singh Jhala of Gandhi Pratishthan was also present on the occasion. Anil Soni informed that Kesar farming was started in Antarpak under Vadi Project of Nabard and Mahatma Gandhi Pratishthan and this experiment was successful. He added that a beneficiary of the project Babulal participated in the experiment in village Barda.
Babulal was taken on an exposure tour; he was later provided seeds and technical knowhow for Kesar farming. He said that the beneficiary has claimed a produce of 30 to 35 kg of Kesar in an acre in just four months. Mahatma Gandhi Pratishthan and Nabard are making efforts to expand Kesar farming in the district under all their projects.
