Bhopal: Kamal Nath, who was instrumental in Congress ending its exile of 15 years, took oath as the 18th Chief Minister of the state on Monday. Governor Anandiben Patel administered oath of office and secrecy to Nath here at Jamboree Maidan on Monday. Congress national president Rahul Gandhi, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and other stalwarts were present on the occasion. After taking the oath, Nath reached Mantralaya and took his first decision to waive loans of farmers.
He decided to waive shortterm loans up to Rs 2 lakh taken by 34 lakh farmers to the tune of Rs 38,000 crore from cooperative and nationalised banks. The state government after Nath’s decision also issued the order in this regard. Nath also decided to extend the facility of incentive to industries, making industrialinvestmentin the state, only when they give employment to 70% domiciles of the state. He said industries were set up in the state but people of Bihar and UP got jobs in them.Nath added that he wasnotagainst employment of people from other states but local people should get priority in getting employment.
