Bhopal: The # Hum Fit Toh India Fit# Fitness Challenge which has emerged as the latest craze in the world of social media is aimed at changing people’s mindset towards fitness. However it is yet to impact the footfalls in the fitness centres and gyms dotting the city. The gym owners and trainers in the city told Free Press that the campaign is a welcome step to motivate people to stop being couch potatoes and hit the gym.

Owner of Wellness Centre, Jehan Numa Palace Hotel, Suveer Bajpai said, “It is media hype, but yes, it may give chance to test people that how physically fit they are? It is good. Due to this people will become more health conscious.”

Bajpayi further says, “The craze of Gym among people of all age groups has increased. Nowadays everyone wants to keep their body active, but their priorities are different. Youth go gym to make six packs while people of middle and old age people go to control sugar and blood pressure.”

Similarly, a fitness trainer and owner of Fitness 365 Degree, Kohefiza, Hujefa Qureshi said, “The challenge may motivate people towards their health by making them health conscious. Celebrities on TV and social media do influence people.”

He further said, “The craze of going gym among people of all age groups has enhanced by 85%. Mostly women, who are opting for it as their career. We design the workout of our clients as per their requirements like modelling, body building, weight loss, muscle mass, fitness etc.”

“Gym and yoga have become monotonous and boring for people. The fitness challenge will help in changing people’s mindset especially of youth towards health as well as fitness but its ratio is less. Nowadays, people are joining gym by default due to combat ageing, improve posture and food habits and to tackle complexities arising out of long sitting time at home and workplaces. Doctors too advise them to join gym,” said Satish Kumar, owner of Bhopal Cross Fit, Bhojpur Club.

Director of Juna Gym, Arera Colony, Inderpreet Sahota said, “Its impact will more on youth who are the most active on social media. No doubt, the craze of gym among people especially youth of age group 15 to 25 years has improved a lot. And this is the reason that the number of gym in the city is more than ever.

“Nowadays, youths join gym just after passing class 10 and 12. They are much conscious towards their body fitness,” he said.
