BHOPAL : “The Gujarat and Rajasthan police are technologically more advanced than the police of Madhya Pradesh. They have developed many mobile apps to simplify their work. The Rajasthan police have given smart phones to their investigation officers so that most of the formalities like taking photo of the crime scene can be handled by them with ease. The Chhattisgarh police have done commendable work vis-a-vis Daily Situation Reports and Budgeting. The Maharashtra Government Railway Police have developed an app using which policemen can immediately share photos of the bodies found and inform the control room.”
This was stated by Additional Director General of Police (Training) Rajendra Kumar on the sidelines of the two-day “Smart Policing” Workshop, which concluded at the Police Headquarters in the city on Saturday.
ADGP Kumar said, “This was the third of the four workshops that were to be held at different places. The fourth workshop would be organised in Chandigarh at the end of this month and a national workshop would follow in the month of July.”
“MP Police has done commendable work in the field of training and the Dial 100 project is a good initiative,” he added.
The participants in the workshop felt that the crime database of various states is currently on different platforms while the inter-state movement of criminals has increased a lot. Therefore, a common software platform needs to be developed for the databases of various states.
The workshop was attended by senior police officers from eight states in the western zone, including MP.
The workshops are being organised in pursuance of the idea of Smart Policing, as given by PM Narendra Modi. By ‘SMART’ policing, he meant S for strict but sensitive, M for modern and mobile, A for alert and accountable, R for reliable and responsive and T for techno-savvy and trained. The workshop was organised jointly by Bureau of Police Research and Development and government of MP.
