BHPAL : Governor Ram Naresh Yadav has said that the reforms in the higher education sector have given a new direction to the students and the youngsters. Yadav said that he was feeling proud in honouring the President of Somalia.
Yadav was speaking at a special convocation ceremony organised by the Barkatullah University here on Saturday to confer the degree D. Litt on Sheikh Mahmood, the President of Somalia. The President had completed his Masters in Technical Education from the NITTTR.
The Governor said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched ‘Rashtriya Uchch Shiksha Abhiyan’ (RUSA). This has helped in providing facilities research and studies to students of universities in the state.
Somalian President said that it was a matter of pride for him that D. Litt has been conferred on him. He thanked all his teachers, colleagues and people of the state for this much affection and honour. The President said that there are good ties between India and Somalia and efforts are on to further cement them. Mahmood said that his country is strictly against terrorism. He exhorted students to work for human welfare.
Higher Education Minister Umashankar Gupta said that it is a matter of pride and privilege for the state that Somalia’s President who has been conferred D.
Litt had pursued education here. Gupta said that India has been world Guru in education sector and hoped that the country will regain this status.
