Alot/Mandsaur: Ruling Congress party in Madhya Pradesh was left in a tight spot after two Congress MLAs from Alot and Suwasara assembly constituency opened front against their own party over their demands. In Alot, Congress MLA Manoj Chawla shot letter to the party national president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday demanding to replace Ujjain Lok Sabha party candidate. In his letter, Chawla asked party to field young candidate instead of Babulal Malviya, a senior party leader.
Chawla said party should reconsider his suggestion and give an opportunity to fresh face as it will help party to pocket this Lok Sabha seat. Chawla said Malviya is not active in the area nor is he the first choice of party workers. If party did not act timely, it will cost them a crucial seat in Malwa region. Likewise, Congress MLA Hardeep Singh Dang from Mandsaur district is upset over delay in fulfilment of farmers’ demand. He staged protest against state government on Tuesday but was stopped by local administrative officials.
According to information, Dang and his supporters were heading towards district headquarter from Suwasara but officials stopped him at Seetamau village. Officials assured him of timely action. Notably, Dang is the only Congress MLA from Mandsaur Lok Sabha seat and his move ahead of Lok Sabha elections could hurt party’s winning prospects. In 2013, BJP won 27 out of 28 seats in Ujjain division.
Dang was the only Congress MLA. Even after that, Congress government seems to be ignoring his demand. Officials assured Dang that letter, which he sent on April 8, has been forwarded to the district collector’s office and orders for redressal have been issued.
