Cong protest on farmers’ issues on Oct 12

BHOPAL: The MP Cong will hold sit-ins and demonstrations at district headquarters on Oct 12 to protest the alleged anti-farmer policies of the state govt. District Collectors will be given memoranda, addressed to the Governor, State Cong Organisation in-charge General Secretary Chandrika Prasad Trivedi said in a press release here on Thursday. The memoranda will list the problems being faced by the farmers including shortage of fertilisers and seeds, damage to crops due to drought and excessive rains and non-payment of compensation for losses sustained by them earlier. The party said that the promised waiver of farm loans had not come about and the govt had not even ordered a survey to assess the loss to crops. “An atmosphere of anarchy prevails in the state”, he said.Tiwari said Cong MPs, MLAs, state-level office-bearers and others would take join the protests.
