BHOPAL : The Hanumanganj police, on Monday, nabbed a criminal who was involved in three chain-snatching incidents in the recent past. Police have recovered from his possession the three looted chains and three stolen bikes, cumulatively worth around Rs 2 lakh. The accused is a history-sheeter of Misrod police station area. He was released from jail in the month of April.
TI Bhupendra Singh said that the accused Chandrabhan alias Chandu, 42, son of Mutthu Swami, resident of Jatkhedi Misrod was involved in more than 40 crimes registered in various police stations of the city.
TI Singh said that Deepti Jain, 65, wife of Amit Lal Jain, resident of 118, Shanti Nagar, whose chain was snatched by Chandu called the police and informed that the man who looted her chain on Thursday was standing before Durga Temple in Sindhi Colony. Police, following the information, reached the spot and with the help of Waseem Khan, a local, nabbed the accused while his accomplice fled the spot. The accused was riding a stolen bike. When the accused was brought to the police station and quizzed he confessed of snatching one chain from CRP Bairagarh area, one from Manuabhan ki Tekri and one from Hanumanganj area. He also confessed of lifting three bikes from Kolar, Kotwali and Hanumanganj police station area each.
