Most of the services offered already available through other platforms
BHOPAL: As part of its endeavour to make Bhopal a “smart city”, the BMC launched a new mobile application and a website on Monday at a function at Hotel Palash Residency.
The App ‘Bhopal Plus’ and website ‘smartcitybhopal.org’ launched by Mayor Alok Sharma, BMC chairman Surjeet Singh Chauhan, BMC commissioner Chhavi Bharadwaj and collector Nishant Warwade will have four main sections: Collaboration Platform, City dashboard and Citizen services and discussions. People can now apply for birth and death certificates, pay bills and taxes, apply for marriage registration and can also register complaints regarding any civic problems related to the city.
The BMC commissioner, while talking about the application, said that the prime objective of the app is to ensure the participation of the people in making Bhopal a smart city. “Through the App we will invite people’s views through polls and group discussions. We will invite people to give their opinion about various civic issues and plans of BMC. For instance, she said, we can hold discussion on which services can be included in Mahapaur express, spots for beautification of the city, etc”, said Bhardwaj.
The discussion section of the app would also allow citizens to demand new bus routes, suggest steps for bettering tourism facilities, ideas for conservation of heritage monuments, facilities under GIS (Geographical information system) and suggestions for location of parking lots and routes for bike sharing. With a budget of Rs 2.75 crore, the application and website will be updated every two months by the technical team of PWC, which is the consultant company of the smart city project of Madhya Pradesh.
