BHOPAL: The businessmen running shops in the Shakti Nagar Market say that if the BMC administration would wash markets at midnight, it would come in the way of associating people with the “Mera Pran: Bhopal No-1” campaign.
Success of any campaign depends on participation of people in it, they added.
Some of the businessmen raised the issue of the dilapidated condition of the shops. There are two stories of 2BHK residential flats on the top of the shops. The ceilings of shops are in a poor shape. The shopkeepers have brought this to the notice of the BMC, which owns the shops.

“It is a good decision but the problem with the campaign is that the washing is done in the night. People cannot see the operation neither can they interact with BMC officials about their problems”.
Yogesh Sharma,
“Washing the markets is a good idea. But the BMC should also look after the maintenance of the shops, which are in a dilapidated condition. If these shops are not repaired, it may lead to serious accidents in the future”.
Devendra Soni,
“The ceilings of the shops in a bad shape. Above the shops, there are two stories of residential flats. The BMC should take it seriously. We have raised the issue many times but nothing concrete has been done in this matter.”
Pankaj Kesharwani,
“The BMC should also focus on other problems like potholes on roads, which are very problematic. People have constructed dividers wherever they wished. Roads accidents occur due to these dividers”
Deepak Jaiswal,
“Only washing the market will not serve any purpose. Markets should be properly maintained. It is the responsibility of the BMC administration which is supposed to convene a meeting with local businessmen to find out a solution. Shops are in a bad condition and day by day, the shops are deteriorating.”
