Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Convener, National Secular Forum, LS Herdenia has condemned the heinous beheading of a tailor in Udaipur. The taking of the law into one's own hands by any individual or group of persons should be opposed.
He further said “I recognise the right of the person who was murdered in Udaipur to express his views. But at the same time I also agree that he did not have to endorse the ideas of Nupur Sharma.” But even if he did so, the right to punish him vests only in the courts. No individual or community has the right to punish them, he said.
The Rajasthan Government should make suitable arrangements at the earliest for the maintenance of the family of the victim. The government should also ensure that the killers are punished and that under the guise of this incident, any kind of violence doesn’t happen, Herdenia added.
