Bhopal: 54-year-old wholesale trader of pickles was allegedly robbed of Rs 60,000 cash, scooter and documents by three bike borne miscreants at gun point near Firdous Nagar under Gautam Nagar police station area late in the night on Monday. According to the police the victim Bharat Batra (54), a resident of Firdous Nagar who runs provisional store of pickle was robbed by three bike-borne miscreants while on his way to house at around 10 in the night on Monday. The miscreants opened fire in the air when the victim resisted robbery.
A day after the incident, cops probing the case are still clueless about the miscreants involved in it and they have sought help of crime branch to get breakthrough in the case. One of the CCTV camera found at the nearby shop was found defunct while other CCTV cameras would be searched in the investigation. The police team suspects that proper recce was done by miscreants for several days before committing the crime.
The employees of Batra’s store and old habitual offenders of the area would be questioned by the police. SDOP Basant Kumar Mishra said that the victim runs Batra Provision at Azad Market and after closing shop he was on his home when he was waylaid and was robbed of his scooter and two bags carrying Rs 60,000 cash kept in the dickey of scooter.
They also opened fire from the pistol but the victim escaped unhurt and reached the police station to lodged complaint. Victim told police that miscreants were not wearing masks and he was not able to notice the registration number of the vehicle. The total loss in the robbery is around Rs 1 lakh claimed the victim. The police have registered a case under Section 392 of the IPC and have started further investigation.
