BHOPAL: Just four days ahead of the polling to prestigious Bhopal Lok Sabha seat, the BJP candidate came out with her incomplete four-Page ‘Sankalp Patra’. To meet ‘Shubh Muhurt’ (auspicious period), Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur in a hurry released her half-baked Sankalp Patra (document of commitments) for the parliamentary constituency on Wednesday. Sadhvi’s document of commitment touched many aspects but it skipped issues pertaining to women, farmers disabled and most importantly Bhopal Gas disaster survivors.
The BJP leader however clarified that since the sankalp patra was to be released at an auspicious time, the party couldn’t release full-fledged Vision Document for Bhopal parliamentary constituency incorporating as of now but it would be done soon. Besides Pragya, thoese present on the opcaasion included party national vice president Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, sitting MP Alok Sanjar and others. “This isn’t the full local manifesto, as more development promises, including those pertaining to welfare of Bhopal Gas Disaster survivors will soon be included in this vision document.
Since there was shubh muhurat (auspicious period) today, hence we came out with this Sankalp Patra, which is yet to include several more issues,” said Pragya while releasing her Sankalp Patra. Several more issues pertaining to women, children including differentially-abled children, farmers, labourers and students which the party have received from people will be incorporated in the complete version of the document, she added.
The Sadhvi made it clear that the initial document of commitments in which many more issues remain to be included, is not a reply to Congress candidate’s vision document. “It’s the initial draft of our commitment to people of Bhopal and not a response to anyone else’s agenda,” said Pragya.
Pragya’s incomplete Vision Document for Bhopal LS seat
The four-page document has dedicated one page to the failures of the erstwhile Digvijaya Singh government in Madhya Pradesh (1993-2003) and mentions problems faced by Bhopal during Congress regime. The other pages throws light on development in MP and Bhopal parliamentary constituency during the 15 years of BJP regime in the state (2003-2018) and the five years of Modi government. The document also lists BJP and Thakur’s commitment to the constituency, which includes starting international flights from Bhopal, air connectivity of state capital with more cities.
Further, the vision document promises starting new direct trains to connect Bhopal with Pune, Lucknow, Ahmadabad, Jaipur, Mumbai and Kolkata, besides starting the high-speed Vande Bharat Express from Bhopal. Sadhvi’s Sankalp Parta also speaks of safeguarding interests of small traders, including providing Rs 10 lakh accidental insurance cover to all traders registered under the GST. It also mentions of establishing a Skill Development University in Bhopal on the lines of Modi government’s vision for Skill Development. The documents also touched upon aspects like entrepreneurship and start ups for young minds, Ease of Living and farmers welfare. It also promises improving digital connectivity and improving quality of life of poor through various schemes started by the Modi government.
