Bhopal: Three held for lodging false loot plaint

BHOPAL: The police arrested three men for conspiring and lodging a false complaint of loot of cash worth Rs 52,628 on Sunday at Govindpura here. The main accused who works a gas cylinder delivery boy, on Saturday had lodged a complaint of loot claiming that unknown men looted cash Rs 52,628 after blinding him and his colleague with chilly powder.

According to the police, main accused Michael Raj, 27, of Anna Nagar in Govindpura while lodging the false complaint in the police station said, on Saturday afternoon after delivering the gas cylinders at their scheduled addresses, he along with one of his colleagues named Sooraj Rajput were going on foot to the gas agency’s office at Vijay Market to deposit the collected amount of Rs 52,628. He then claimed while they both were on their way to the office, two men suddenly put chilly powder in the eyes of his colleague, then in his eyes. The two unknown men then fled the scene after snatching away the amount kept in his pocket.

The police in the first place smelled a rat in his account and after investigating his background found that he is a habitual gambler in Anna Nagar. It also found that he was under heavy loan and had also mortgaged his motor-bike for Rs 30,000. He needed money to repay his loans and hence planned the fake loot with his accomplices and other two arrested accused, Surya Prakash Durrai, 28, and Sunil Bhanskar, 20, both residents of Anna Nagar. Later when police strictly questioned Michael about the incident, he confessed that it was a planned incident after which he was arrested. The other two accused were also later arrested and were booked under relevant sections of IPC. The police have recovered Rs 42,628 from the three while the remaining Rs 10,000 were already spent by them, the police said.
