Manawar: Taking stern action against tax defaulters in the area, tehsildar PN Parmar has sealed the main door of Balaji Colony while collecting conversion tax, triggering angry protests from the coloniser.
During the proceedings of sealing the gate there was a major altercation between the coloniser and the tehsildar. According to the colonisers Ashwin Mahajan and Nilesh Rawka, maximum people reside in the colony and sealing the gates will be a violation of rights on the fundamental grounds.
There are total 111 plots in Balaji Colony, out of which 109 are registered and the mutation records of 97 plots are available at the Tehsil office. As many as 97 plots have been sold and according to the rules depositing the convertion charges is the responsibility of the respective landlord and therefore proceedings regarding the cash cannot be done on all the residents of the colony, said the colonisers.
The coloniser has deposited the amount of remaining 14 plots on November 24, 2016 and the tehsildar was not ready to see the receipt and instead sealed the main gate of the colony, they complained.
After that when the colony people asked the coloniser to deposit the outstanding cash he assured them there is no outstanding land converted tax of the colony. After that when he showed the tax receipts of 14 plots to the tehsildar the tehsildar asked to deposit Rs 12,000 as additional tax and after getting the amount he opened the gate. According to the coloniser Mahajan and Rawka this situation took place because the tax records were not updated at the tehsil office.
