Bhopal: Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh in a letter to Governor has urged to use her constitutional power to stop the state government from calling special Assembly session. Congress leader has also written to the Assembly speaker Sitasharan Sharma.
Stating that state government has no right to call special assembly session, LoP in the letter said that Congress MLAs will boycott the session. The government first called 5-day monsoon session, one of the smallest, and then wrapped it up in just two days, which is nothing but making fun of the constitutional rights, read the letter. Now again after 42 days, the government wants to call day-long special Assembly session; this shows its misgovernance, said Singh in his letter.
Stating that normally monsoon session is called in July and August, LoP questioned Speaker, “Why was the monsoon session called in June this time?” Every opposition has the right to bring no-confidence motion against the government but violating the democratic values the session was ended in just two days, said Singh, adding that entire state witnessed what was done in the assembly by the speaker and the government. BJP government has lost the right to call the session as now the government which will be elected in 2018 will have the right to call the Assembly session, said LoP.
