Bhopal: A sports complex is set to be constructed at Bamora in Sagar stretched in about 5.6 hectares of land. A budget of Rs 5.9 crore has been approved for the same.

Minister of sports and youth welfare Yashodhara Raje Scindia and urban development minister Bhupendra Singh virtually performed the Bhoomi Poojan at the site of the proposed sports complex on Thursday.

The complex will be built by the Madhya Pradesh Police Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation. The complex will comprise a badminton court, football stadium, athletics track, basketball court, volleyball court, table tennis court, gymnasium, store and other facilities.

Scindia said she has been trying to make at least one indoor and one outdoor stadium at every district headquarters to promote sports among the youths.

The players should not compromise on training because of the weather, she said.

Soon after Bhoomi Pujan, she instructed the officials to begin the work with boundary wall construction. Singh, on the other hand, said it was his childhood dream to have a stadium in his city.

Now his dream is all set to be fulfilled, he said.
