Bhopal: Taking advantage of weak security feature of new currency notes of Rs 2,000, four miscreants tried to print the currency and get rich, but on a tip off, the crime branch busted the racket operating from a photo studio on Friday.
DIG Ranman Sikarwar informed in a press conference that crime branch, Bhopal got the information that a racket was operating which printed fake currency notes. The police busted the racket and seized fake notes worth Rs 2, 06, 300.
It was informed that one Fahim Quarishi was planning to hand over the fake currency notes at Kaji Camp area. The police arrested the accused and found that he was carrying fake currency worth Rs 1,50,000 in Rs 2,000 denomination.
On the information received from Fahim, the police arrested Danish Ali from Budhwara, who was also having fake currency of Rs 30,300 in Rs 2,000 and 100 denominations. On the information the police raided the photo studio in Ashoka Garden and arrested owner Jitendra. The police also arrested Vaseem Shekh in this connection.
Mastermind Danish Ali was in debt and wanted to pay out the money, but he was not having proper income for the repayment.
He asked Vaseem, also a photographer excelling in mixing, to prepare the fake currency notes of Rs 2,000 as it is a new currency and many reports are coming in saying the currency note is leaving colour and having other defects.
Going by the media reports they planned to print the notes with the help of Jitendra Raikwar who was having computer and printer.
They printed the currency notes from the studio and had planned to use them in the rural areas so that their currency could not be identified properly.
The police are searching the other counterpart of the gang, which would be helping them to run the racket.
