BSP Supremo Mayawati said that the Congress, like the BJP, was conspiring to “finish off” the BSP in Madhya Pradesh. This is the reason, Congress wanted to allot weak seats (where Congress was weak), to BSP in the state. Such attitude was main hurdle in finalizing seats sharing and adjustment in Madhya Pradesh, She alleged. Maywawati was addressing public meeting on Tuesday at BHEL Dussehra Maidan. When there was no scope of seat sharing, BSP finally decided to contest assembly elections on its own in MP.
Congress is looking frustrated due to dominance of BSP in bordering districts of Uttar Pradesh, she added. “Congress is under a misconception that it can defeat the BJP on its own but the ground reality is that people have not forgiven the Congress for its mistakes and corruption. Congress doesn’t seem to be ready to rectify.” Mayawati added. She called on the party workers to be alert from tactics of BJP and Congress which may do many things to damage the BSP in MP till last moment.
She said, “Whatever allegations Congress is leveling at BSP’s top leadership are totally absurd. BSP allotted tickets to candidates of all categories in MP. It was long back when constitution was implemented, but there is no remarkable development of dalits, other reserve categories, Muslims, business class in the country. I always raise the issue of reservation for upper castes but no other political parities took congnisance of it in the Parliament.”
Mayawati said, “All political parties are trying to make reservation policies, given by Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, redundant.
Even the reservation quota has not been implementation properly in the country. We have to struggle to take benefits of reservations despite the provision.”She said, “Just because of BJP and Congress’ mentality, Mandal commission has not been totally implemented. BJP never extended the support to the cause of dalits and reservation the way I have supported Mandal Commission.”
