Bhopal: A man was not only beaten but also made to do sit-ups for defecating in the open on Sunday. He was also slapped a fine of Rs 100. A photograph of the incident has gone viral on social media.
Assistant health officer of the area who initially tried to make him understand that he should not defecate in open, however, when the man did not listen to him, he got a sound bashing from the officer. The man was allegedly beaten with sticks by the officer. Municipal team, while visiting the area in Banganga area spotted Mohit, a resident of a nearby slum defecating in open. The team asked the man to use toilet, however, all counseling fell on the deaf ear.
When the team found man not relenting, they informed their AHO Ajay Shrawan. On Reaching there, the officer tried his best to make him understand the perils of defecating in open, however the unrelenting man entered into argument with him.
Shrawan, lost his cool and used a stick to teach him a lesson. The officer bashed the man with stick and also made him do sit-ups. Later the team also made him pay Rs 100 as fine. Shrawan when contacted said that the man was not only arguing with the team but was very obstinate. The man told the team that he was done with his work and now the BMC has to do its part, that is to clean it, the officer added. “His words miffed me and I hit him with stick,” he said adding that had the commissioner or any senior other officer would have seen his act of open defecation then it would have caused embarrassment to the health team.
