BHOPAL: District collector on Wednesday issued notification for separation of Kolar from the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC). The administration will issue notice inviting claims and objections which could be submitted till March 10.
The ward numbers 80, 81, 82, 83, 84 and 85 fall under Kolar area, however, following the delimitation of BMC, it has been decided that Kolar will be moved out of the municipal limits if the BMC and will be made a separate Municipality. BMC commissioner B Vijay Dutta said that notice for claims and objections will be issued and all future actions will be taken as per rule.
Mayor Alok Sharma said the creation of new municipality will devoid the residents of the area of the amenities that are provided by the BMC. People look forward but by turning Kolar into a municipality will be like pushing the area on a downhill slide, he added.
MLA Rameshwar Sharma said that the decision was taken even without informing him. The MLA said that he has no say in it and the ‘concerned responsible’ persons are working at the behest of state government and are issuing orders without taking him in confidence, said Sharma. The decision will do great harm to the area as well as its residents, he added.
