Bhopal: NHRC miffed over land of tribal man sold to non-tribal

BHOPAL: Dalit Panther state president R.K. Mahale alleged that the then collector Nikunj Shrivastava, Tehsildar Rajesh Shrivastava, Town & Country Planning (T&CP) Commissioner for facilitating to sell SC/ST land to builders.

Mahale, while interacting with media on Sunday, alleged the then Bhopal collector Nikunj Shrivastava gave permission to scheduled tribe Mayaram Gond of Barrai, tehsil Huzur, to sell their land to Jamuna Prasad and now builders have come up with their projects on the land.

Mahale further said that National Human Right Commission issued notices to Bhopal collector, BMC commissioner, T&CP commissioner seeking reply within four weeks.

Land was in the name of Mayaram, Sukhbai, Krishna Bai and Kala Bai and it was nearly 8.5 acres, the market rate of which was Rs 22 lakh per acre. They applied to collector stating that they want to sell a portion of land and purchase more fertile land in Raisen district at rate of Rs 6.5 lakh per acre. They showed the agreement with Surendra Singh and others. He said, “It is against Supreme Court guidelines to sell tribal land to non tribal person. In this case, in 2012, builders like Fortune Saumya Housing society, Ultimate developers, Fast track real estate developers fraudulently acquired the land for the projects.”
