BHOPAL: Armed naxalites killed their former sympathizer on suspicion of his being a police informer in Lanji area of Balaghat district on late Thursday night.
The 48-year-old man identified as Brajlal Pandre was taken out of his house in Chowria-Pitkona village by a group of naxalites wearing military green fatigues. He was subsequently taken to the main crossing of the village where he was shot in the head from point blank range.
The additional SP Balaghat Akash Bhuria informed that, pamphlets recovered from the spot, where Pandre was murdered by armed naxals contained a threat that anyone else who turned a police informer would be dealt with similarly.
“From the pamphlets recovered from the spot, it seems that the middle-aged former naxal sympathizer was murdered on the suspicion of being a police informer. He was the head of the Van Samiti of the village which is connected with wood cutting and tendu leaves plucking work,” said the ASP.
“A group of armed men came to our house at around 9 pm, shook my husband’s hand and then took him out, where he was killed by more armed men,” alleged the deceased’s wife.
Pandre was an active member of Sangam Dalam (local group of villagers who were naxal sympathizers) a few years back and was accused in at least eight naxal activities related cases in the past.
He came out of jail two years back. This is the third incident in three years, where armed naxals have murdered a villager suspecting them to be police informers.
