Congress has lodged a complaint with Election Commission on Tuesday alleging thousands of bogus voters in the electoral rolls. They had earlier made a complaint of similar nature on October 16. State secretary of Congress, Manoj Shukla, said that huge discrepancies in voters list have been found in Narela assembly constituency with duplicate names and bogus voters. In such condition free and fair elections are not possible, said Shukla, adding that his name too was repeated in the electoral roll, claiming that final draft of voter list contains many discrepancies.
Congress alleging bogus voters in the constituency sought removal of Govindpura SDM Mukul Gupta. Another Congress functionary claimed that there were at least 12,000 voters whose photo is same but name is repeated multiple times in the electoral roll. Since beginning of the year Congress party has been claiming lakhs of bogus voters in the electoral roll of state and had urged searchable format of electoral roll. The plea, however, was turned down by the apex court. On the other hand, Narela MLA Vishwas Sarang has lodged a complaint with the election commission alleging that name of genuine voters in the Narela constituency are being removed from the electoral roll.
