Bhopal: In the wake of the horrific Ryan School murder, DIG (Bhopal), Santosh Kumar Singh on Monday, issued directives for schools and colleges to make police verification compulsory for the driver, conductor and the support staff of the school. A 7-year-old boy was killed in a gruesome manner inside Gurugram’s Ryan International School. Class 2 student Praduman Thakur was killed allegedly by the conductor of one of the school buses on Friday last week. The murder has triggered a major outrage across the country.
The bus operator as well as the Director of schools and colleges will be responsible for police verification of drivers, conductors and support staff of schools and colleges. The DIG asked the Director of schools and colleges to take a notice of the directive and make sure that the verification of every such staff is complete. If the directives issued is found to be ignored and their involvement is found in any criminal cases than bus operators and the directors of schools and colleges will be held accountable for it.
In accordance with the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court, the traffic police will verify the documents of school and college buses along with that of driver conductor and support staff. Verification of 246 buses and 20 driver, conductor and support staff is complete till now.
Institutes told to install CCTV cameras
Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the directives have been issued to the schools and colleges. Regular inspection and checking of all bus operators is going on.
Minister of state for technical education and skill development, Deepak Joshi said that all the directives have been issued in this matter. It is mandatory for the teaching staff as well as the non teaching staff to complete their police verification. Schools and colleges are directed to install CCTV cameras in their premises. Complaint box should be present in schools and colleges and it should be opened only by social worker and not by management authorities.
