Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The interval of precaution dose in Covid-19 vaccination has been reduced from 9 months to 6 months.
Director (Vaccination) NHM Dr Santosh Shukla said that for the eligibility of vaccination dose, a gap of 6 months or 26 weeks is necessary for the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
Earlier, Standing Technical Sub-Committee (STSC) of National Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (NTAGI) had recommended for it to reduce the gap between the second dose of Covid vaccine and the precaution dose from 9 months or 39 weeks to 6 months or 26 weeks. It was also endorsed by NTAGI.
Secretary health, union government, Rajesh Bhushan, in a letter on Wednesday, said, ìIt has been decided that precaution dose to all beneficiaries from 18 to 59 years will be administered after completion of six months from the date of second Covid vaccine dose at private covid vaccination centres (CVCs).î
He further said, ìFor beneficiaries above 60 years or frontline workers (FLWs), health care workers (HCWs), the precaution dose will be administered free of charge.î
