Bhopal: Gandhians demand cancellation of Pragya’s candidature

BHOPAL: Hurt by BJP candidate Pragya Thakur’s statement calling Nathuram Godse a ‘patriot’, a delegation led by P V Rajgopalan of followers of Gandhian philosophy have demanded cancellation of Thakur’s candidature. “Election commission is a constitutional body and it should take strict action against Pragya Thakur in order to save constitution,” said PV Rajgopal, founder of Rashtriya Ekta Manch.

He said that Godse killed Gandhi because he did not agree with his views. Godse was punished as per rules mentioned in the constitution. But Pragya’s praise for Godse demonstrates that she does not believe in constitution, he added. MP Sarvodaya Mandal Anish Kumar and several others were part of the delegation who demanded that Malegaon bomb blast accused charged under terror act should not be allowed to enter parliament as she does not believe in constitution. The delegation suggested that Pragya’s right to vote should be taken away by the election commission the way Bal Thackarey’s franchise was taken away for a prescribed time period.
