Bhopal: Dignitaries share their ideas to boost happiness index in MP

Bhopal: Materialistic achievements do not give inner happiness and peace, said Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan stating that government’s job though is to prepare such an infrastructure where basic needs of people are taken care of, but it also has to take required measures to increase the level of happiness among its citizens.

Chouhan was addressing that first meeting of general assembly of Anand Sansthan here on Friday which was graced by dignitaries from all walks of life. With years of experience in their respective fields, the distinguished guests were here to share their ideas and suggestions to increase happiness index in the State. Madhya Pradesh became the first state for preparing the happiness indicators in the nation. By the next year, the road map of the Anand department will be ready.

Swami Govind Dev Giri Ji, associated with Vedic Education, appreciated the State government initiative to set up Anand department and described it as a creative project. He also suggested to organise Sarvadharm Anand Katha. Giving her suggestions, Indumati Katdadare associated with the spiritual and cultural development projects of children, said that while preparing index of happiness it would be appropriate to take care of Indian vision and philosophy.

Yogacharya Dr HR Nagendra suggested that yoga practice should be started in school and college to assess the level of happiness among children. Praising the government for coming up with the novel idea of Anand department, noted Odissi danseuse Sonal Mansingh said that Madhya Pradesh has done an amazing job and such departments should be set up in other regions too. The activities of Anand Club should be widely disseminated and for this social media should be used, she added.

Brahmadev Sharma suggested that activities of Ananda Sanstha should be extended upto panchayat level and the services of the retired persons should be taken. Focusing on children as young as 10 years, such activities should be promoted among them which emphasis on inculcating qualities like sharing, caring, understanding, building relationships.

In the meeting, the chief secretary BP Singh, additional chief secretary Anand Department Iqbal Singh Bains senior officials were also present.
