Bhopal: Traffic congestion left many commuters specially school children stranded during Chief Minister oath ceremony held at Jamboree (BHEL) on Monday. Traffic congestions left commuters frowning as roads remained choked for hours on Monday. A large number of Congress leaders and their supporters had descended on the city from various districts specially Chhindwara to attend the ceremony. Huge traffic jams were witnessed specially on the road leading to Janboori Maidan, as hundreds of party leaders and workers had come to the city driving their SUVs, vans and buses.
Commuters were made to take longer routes to reach destinations due to traffic diversion at key points like Habibganj, Police Control Room, DB Mall, Vyapam Square, Board Office Square, ISBT Square, DRM Square. School buses plying on various routes to drop the students remained stranded in traffic congestions. As vehicles were prohibited on many routes, traffic pressure multiplied on subsidiary routes in Jahangirabad, Lal Parade Ground, Raj Bhavan, MP Nagar, BHEL, Piplani, Govindpura, Awadhpuri, Carmel Convent School (BHEL), Mother Teresa School, Jawahar Lal School, Career College, Hema School, Vikram School.
Entire stretch of Link Road No-1 covering Vyapam Square, 1250 Hospital (JP Hospital), Red Cross Hospital, Shivaji Nagar where Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) were among the most affected pockets. Heavy police forces were deployed at prominent points and barricades were installed for traffic diversion. At sharp 12.00, as the road leading to MP Nagar, was barricaded at Police Control Room, the commuters had to traverse through Jahangirabad.
