BHOPAL: Chief electoral officer Saleena Singh has reportedly threatened media persons that if they reveal the malfunctioning of the voter verified paper audit trail (VVPAT), tested at Bhind on Friday, they will be booked.
On tour to inspect the scheduled by-election preparations at Ater and Bhandavgarh on April 9, she examined the VVPAT and EVM at Bhind district headquarters. Ater constituency comes under Bhind. Congress spokesperson KK Mishra alleged that during the trial, she pushed the button number 4 which was of some other party, but the VVPAT gave the slip of BJP symbol, whereas the BJP symbol was placed at number 1 on the EVM. On this she warned the officials and media persons saying, “This news should not come out. If it comes, you will be booked in police station.”
KK Mishra informed that the party would be going to take big move on the issue and on Saturday they would reveal the strategy. However joint chief electoral officer SS Bansal, who was also with the CEO, informed Free Press, that VVPAT was working accordingly, but some people started claiming that it was giving only BJP symbol, which was incorrect. When asked about the threat incident, he said no such incident had happened.
