Bhopal: Charges framed against IAS couple Tinu Joshi, Arvind Joshi

BHOPAL: A session’s court, on Tuesday, framed charges against IAS couple Tinu Joshi and Arvind Joshi and 16 others in a disproportionate assets case.

Charges were framed by the court of ADJ DP Mishra under sections 467 and 468 of IPC and Section 13(1) (e) read with 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act against all the 18 accused.

Others those against whom charges have been framed include HM Joshi, Nirmala Joshi, Abha Joshi, Vibha Gunny Joshi, Miraj Ali Khan, Raj Rani, SP Kohli and Harsh Kohli. Charges were also framed against Sahil Kohli, Simant Kohli, Pawan Agrawal, Seema Agrawal, Lalit Jaggi, Santosh Jaiswal, and Sridev Sharma. The Lokayukta had conducted raids at the residence of Joshi couple in February 6, 2010.

The couple had bought agricultural or non-agricultural land at a number of places including Kanha and Bandhavgarh national parks, Raisen, Balaghat, Sehore and Bhopal, according to an appraisal report by the Income Tax department.  It also alleged that the couple purchased 25 flats of which 18 are in Guwahati, six in Bhopal and one in New Delhi.  Papers of seven plots at Patel Nagar (central Delhi) were also recovered from their possession. The I-T search had resulted in recovery of jewellery worth Rs. 67 lakh and foreign currency worth Rs. 7 lakh, the IT department had claimed.

Advocate EA Qureshi said, “Now that the charges have been framed, trial will start.”
