BHOPAL: A 20-year-old girl on way for her 12th Board examination of MP Board that commenced on Wednesday was killed in a road accident at Jail Road, Gandhi Nagar on Wednesday. The agitated mob went on a rampage smashing the bus involved in the accident and set it on fire.
As per the police, the girl had come to her parent’s place from her in-laws’ house two days back to appear in the exam. She was going to exam centre allotted to her in a government school in Barkhera. Police later arrested the accused driver and registered a case on charges of negligent driving against him.
The police said the deceased was identified Santoshi Bai, 20, wife of Achal Singh Mewada, of Kala Peepal village. Her father Prithvi Singh Mewada, a watchman, resides in Nai Basti Sector-3, Gandhi Nagar. Santoshi was married to Achal Singh two years ago. She filled up the Class 12 exam form as a private student.
Around 7 am she along with her brother Sonu Mewada on his bike was going to Mahatma Gandhi School, Barkhera to appear in Hindi exam. When they reached near the turning near Central Jail in Nayapura, a bus of Jagrati School (MP04 PA 0945) coming from behind hit their bike at high speed. The collision was so intense that Santoshi fell on the road and died on the spot while Sonu along with bike hit the divider. The driver of the bus was identified as Asif Khan, 26, of Ekta Nagar, Karond. He tried to flee the spot but was caught by the locals, who informed the police.
