Bhopal: The mayors of BJP from 16 municipal corporations across the state would stage a dharna in the state capital on March 1 against the state government for stalling developmental works. BJP corporators and former aldermen would also take part in the dharna.
The BJP mayors, led by Bhopal mayor Alok Sharma, met ex-Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and state president Rakesh Singh on Tuesday. They told them that commissioners of municipal corporations are working as representatives of Congress.
Sharma, after their meeting, told media persons that the funds of Pradhanmantri Awaas Yojana, Smart City, Sambal Yojana and Swach Bharat Yojana are not being released. Sharma alleged that Congress government removes any commissioner who works honestly. He claimed that commissioners of municipal corporations were delaying developmental works.
Gwalior mayor Vivek Shejwalkar claimed that a conspiracy to remove him is underway. Shejwalkar said Chhindwara and Rewa mayors were also given notices. The court had quashed the notice in Chhindwara case. But now government has filed caveat over Gwalior and Rewa.
In a programme organised on the launch of Mukhyamantri Yuva Swabhimaan Yojana in Bhopal, MLA Arif Masood gave vote of thanks instead of mayor Alok Sharma.
