BHOPAL: Ex-Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has evoked popular adage- bhay bin hoye na preet to deal with social problem- rape of minors. Such issues could not be left with governments only; a social movement needs to be built to transform society and make it rape free, said Chouhan. Ex-CM said that to save girl child one should keep eye on people with criminal bent of mind. They should be identified and punished publically so that a fear is instilled in mind of such people. Chouhan was speaking at a programme organised at Manas Bhavan on Saturday. The programme saw presence of eminent citizens including religious, social and business sectors.
Chouhan held drugs as one of the main reason behind such incidents. He said that drugs are available easily and people under its influence no more remain humans. Talking of solution, Chouhan suggested that mohalla committees should be constituted and girls should be made self-dependent. They should be taught arts of self defense. Efforts of people should remain continuous in nature than organizing candle marches and forgetting the issue, a little later. The programme was organised to mull ways to stop crime against minors after a spree of rape of minors in and around state capital recently.
