BHOPAL: Cyber Crime cell has arrested a Delhi-based BCom student accused of hacking a Google account and siphoning off money from victim’s Youtube Channel. Rs 16,860 were recovered from him. He was identified as Vijay Kumar Gupta of Delhi. He is a first year student of BCom.
According to reports, Rahul Agrawal of Gwalior lodged a complaint with the cyber cell on February 2, claiming that funds from his bank account linked with Google account connected with Youtube Channel were siphoned off. In his complaint the victim stated that miscreant hacked into his account and withdrew money.
During investigation, police found that Vijay Gupta hacked into the Google account and changed password of Agrawal’s Youtube Channel. He also changed details of the bank account in which the payment was transferred by Google. Police also recovered Rs 16,860 which was to be paid to complainant Rahul Agrawal. However, as payment details were changed, the money was transferred into miscreant’s bank account. The accused used to hack into Youtube channel through phishing.
Police registered a case under Section 66 of the IT Act and Section 420 of the IPC and started investigation. After investigation the accused was arrested from Delhi on Thursday. The fraud is done by changing bank account details which would receive payment made by Google for Youtube Channel. Police suspect that the miscreant had targeted several victims and would be investigated.
