BHOPAL: The Anti-terrorism Squad (ATS) of the state police, on Friday, presented five members of the ISI spy ring in the local court. The court sent them on police remand up to February 14. Late on Thursday night, the ATS arrested four more persons on the same charge from Satna and Gwalior.
The ATS had arrested 11 alleged ISI agents from four cities of the state on Thursday. They were said to be involved in sending crucial information to Pakistan for a consideration.
Five of them including Manish Gandhi, Dhurv Saxena and Mohit Agarwal of Bhopal and Manoj Bharti and Sanjay Gupta of Jabalpur were presented in the court of Satish Chadra Malviya on Friday. The court sent them on PR for five days. Earlier, on Thursday, the ATS had taken six accused on remand. In the second round, the ATS arrested two persons – Rajesh Jaiswal and Rajiv Tiwari – from Satna late on Thursday night.
These two were the associates of Balram Singh, who is said to be the kingpin of the spying racket. Two others were arrested from Gwalior.
The ATS is also looking for other associates helping the arrested eleven main accused of the case. So far, 15 persons have arrests. Sources say as the probe proceeds, many more arrests are likely.
According to unconfirmed sources two doctors from Jabalpur have transferred their funds through hawala to the foreign country through the nexus. They are under the scanner of the ATS.
ATS IG meets Army chief
ATS IG Sanjiv Sami, on Friday, met the Chief of the Army Staff General Bipin Rawat and briefed him on the arrests made in connection with the ISI spy ring. The army chief was in the capital in connection with some official function. Sanjiv Sami gave details of the arrested persons to the army chief.
