Bhopal: Encroachments carried out by Asaram Bapu’s Ashram will not be razed down at least for now as its caretakers have got a stay from the High Court. The court stayed lower court’s order directing demolition of the illegally constructed wall allegedly raised by the Ashram functionaries.
A case was filed against the Ashram by the 10 people whose land adjoining the Ashram land was allegedly being encroached by the ashram functionaries. The ashram has been developed at Gandhinagar area on the government land. The government had allocated over four hector of land to the Ashram to run the religious activities. The functionaries there raised a wall constructed a wall on the road adjoining the land owned by the 10 people. They raised objection over the construction of the wall and the matter was taken to the administration.
The encroachment complaint was filed in the tehsildar of Bairagarh Court and after hearing the case the court found their objections correct and gave order in their favour. The court ordered the removal the encroachment on April 11, 2017. The Ashram authorities appealed an appeal again the order, however , the court maintaining its previous order on November 7,2017directed the authorities to clear the encroachment.
On November 28, the tehsildar wrote to the superintendent of police seeking police protection on for its team which was assigned the task of razing down of the encroachment on December 1. However , since police team did not turn up, the administrative authorities deferred the razing down of the illegally constructed wall.
The tehsildar Ajay Pratap Singh told Free Press that the police did not provided the force and on March 3, 2018 the Ashram authorities got stay from the Madhya Pradesh High Court Jabalpur. Social activists Shailesh Pradhan informed that they had filed a petition at SDM court seeking cancellation of land lease of the Ashram. The petition was filed alleging immoral activities being run in the Ashram.
“A other complaint was filed through the public grievance redresses department to the urban development department seeking land lease cancellation. The department had forwarded the letter to the district collector in the month of January 2017, but till date the no action has been taken in this matter,”Pradhan claimed.
