BHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh chapter of All India Ulema Board has demanded ban on controversial movie Ram Ki Janambhoomi produced by chairman of Shia Waqf Board, Uttar Pradesh, Waseem Rizvi. A delegation of the board met the state chief electoral officer and submitted a memorandum demanding ban on the movie because of its offensive and divisive content.  Model code of conduct states that it is designed to avert communal clashes and corrupt practices for the need of ensuring free and fair elections, said vice president of Ulema Board, Noorullah Yousuf Zai. The release of film produced and written by Waseem Rizvi will create rift between communities.

MCC also states that there shall not be any activity which may aggravate existing differences or create mutual hatred or cause tension between different castes and communities, religious or linguistic. The promo shows that certain scenes will promote communal feelings, religious controversies and hatred between communities, he added.  This film speaks on controversial topics including ‘Triple Talaq’ and ‘Halala’ besides Ram Janambhoomi- the case if which is subjudice.

Not only Muslims but secular sections of non-Muslims too believe that this was an effort to interfere in religious issues. That is the reason why Bills on Halala and Triple Talaq have not been passed in Rajya Sabha, they said.  It seems that the release of movie is conspiracy to damage the harmony of the society. Release of the film will violate the model code of conduct, said the complaint. Controversy related with the movie could be judged by the fact that a petition in Bombay High Court has forced the producer, Waseem Rizvi to withdraw controversial promos. He then released another edited promo of the movie.
