The AICC national president Rahul Gandhi will visit six more temples in the state during the election campaign. Within, four days from now, the Gandhi scion will visit the Gwalior-Chambal region. He will start his two-day trip to the region after offering prayers at the world famous temple of Goddess Pitambara in Datia district on October 15.
The temple which is dedicated to Goddess Baglamukhi/Peetambara, one of the ten Mahavidyas, where major tantrik rituals are performed throughout the year mainly to achieve victory over one’s adversaries. He will be visiting Omkarshwar in Nimad area, in Malwa Mahakalshwar, in Bundelkhand Orcha temple, in Gwalior Sheetla Mata Mandir and Surya temple and in Hosangabad he will perform Narmada Arti.
The Congress ‘soft Hindutva’ approach is being seen as a shift in stance and hence the mandir visits. Recently, he had visited Chitrakoot and offered puja at Kamtanath temple and had performed Narmada Arti in Jabalpur. The change in the party’s attitude came after the 2014 elections, the party had constituted a committee chaired by the former defence minister AK Antony, to find out the reasons of the party’s defeat.
Among several ‘drawbacks’, the party has ‘realised’ that it needed to shift gears to shed its anti- Hindu image. Recently, after the visit of Mansarovar Yatra, he came to Bhopal and was stated as a ‘Shiv Bhakt’, after that he visited Chitrakoot and there he was seen as a ‘Ram Bhakt’. In Jabalpur, he turned into Narmada Bhakt.
