The 44-year long innings of Babulal Gaur as MLA will conclude on December 11 with the announcement of election results. Besides Gaur, forest minister Gaurishankar Shejwar, public health engineer minister Kusum Mehdale, urban administration minister Maya Singh, minister of state for water resources Harsh Singh and BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya too would not be seen in the 15th state Assembly.
Gaur, who was first elected as MLA in 1974, won assembly polls for 10 consecutive times. Gaur was denied ticket this time and his daughter-in-law was given ticket by the BJP. The announcement of assembly poll results would put a stop on Gaur’s long tenure as legislator.
Former chief minister Babulal Gaur said he has attained 89 years of age and has served as MLA for ten times. He maintains that there are several means to serve the society and now he would devote time in serving cow, Hindu society and nation’s service. The veteran BJP leader said he got a ‘Guashala’ built in Mungalia Kotia, in one acre land, where 11 cows are housed and would spend time in serving cows there. Gaur said there were several means of doing service. He has been serving as MLA and now he would be serving as social servant.
Shejwar, elected MLA for the first time in 1977, represented the constituency seven times. He got his son Mudit Shejwar get ticket in his place. Vijayvargiya has been MLA since 1990 and has been elected on six times. BJP national general secretary Vijayvargiya refused to contest assembly polls this time and got his son Akash Vijayvargiya get party ticket.
Kusum Mehdale too was denied ticket this time. Mehdale won assembly elections in 1990 and won 4 assembly elections. Mehdale’s political career has come to a halt with the party denied her ticket. She has also expressing her resentment on various forums after the party denied ticket to her.
Harsh Singh, who made debut in Assembly in 1980, served MLA for four times. Harsh’s son Vikram Singh was given ticket following his illness. Maya Singh, who won assembly polls in 2013 for the first time, would not be able to come to assembly this time. Singh had served in Rajya Sabha for two terms. It was said, when she was denied ticket, that her services in politics would be utilized somewhere.
