Bhopal: With a little more than a year to go for assembly elections in the state, the chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan held a meeting at Ratapani Wildlife sanctuary with the chief secretary B.P. Singh and officers of his Secretariat to draw the contours of what the government should do in the remaining period.
They also deliberated upon vision document 2023 draft. The meeting discussed the chief minister’s proposed Jan Darshan Yatra. The projects that can be taken up over the next one year were also discussed. The meeting also dwelt on what announcements the chief minister can make to boost the popularity of the government.
Sources said that Chouhan may make some big-ticket announcements in the near future. At the meeting, the chief minister asked the chief secretary to tour different areas of the state to study the implementation of government schemes. He said that some major projects should be taken up so as to send out a message to the people.
The chief minister emphasised that tough action should be taken in cases of corruption. The meeting also discussed the Core Committee meeting scheduled for September 17. The chief minister proposes to present some schemes before the committee that would aid the party’s poll effort.
The officers were told to give due weight to the BJP people’s representatives so that they can strengthen their hold in their respective areas. Administrative reshuffle was also discussed. It was stressed that officers who can give quick results should be posted on key posts, especially the ones which have a direct bearing on the elections. Names of such officers were also discussed.
CM to fly to Delhi today
On Thursday, the chief minister will be flying to Delhi. Sources said that he may discuss the proposed expansion of the council of ministers with the central leadership. In this expansion, new ministers would be inducted keeping the electoral, caste and regional equations in mind.
